MaKayla Hanington focuses her practice on Estate Planning and Administration. More specifically, she assists families and community members by designing estate plans that accomplish their goals based on their intentions for their beneficiaries, whether family members, friends, individuals with special needs, minors, or charitable organizations. Prior to joining Holden & Campbell, she gained experience in successfully guiding families through the probate process and family conflict. MaKayla believes that the loss of a loved one is very difficult and that planning for it in advance, starting with the possibility of incapacity or a decline in health, is very helpful during an emotionally difficult and challenging time. She enjoys preparing thorough estate planning documents, including Powers of Attorney, Health Care Directives, Wills, Trusts, Deeds, and other transfer documents.
MaKayla is admitted to practice law in the state of Maryland. She earned her B.A. in Law & Policy from Dickinson College in 2013 and earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2016 with a concentration in Family Law. She is a member of the Estates & Trust Law Section and Real Property Section of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Estates & Trust Law Section of the Anne Arundel County Bar Association, and is an active member of the Anne Arundel Estate Planning Council. She is currently an Associate Member of Anne Arundel Women Giving Together, learning about volunteering opportunities and how this organization arranges grants to support other local organizations. Additionally, MaKayla is a contributing writer for the Maryland focused Estates and Tax Law Sections of Practical Law, a Thompson Reuters Company.
